Scope & Content This collection is comprised of meeting minutes, correspondence, financial documents, member lists, photographs, scrapbooks, and other materials associated with the Blekinge Gille club.
Biographical Information Blekinge Gille was a provincial society incorporated in 1950 with the purpose to provide social and cultural activities for people with ancestral roots in the province of Blekinge, Sweden. Members were largely from the Minneapolis area and the society was associated with the American Swedish Institute; all meetings and many events took place at ASI. The club took part in many local Swedish heritage activities, including the annual Svenskarnas Dag festival, and had the strongest membership in the 1950s and 1960s. It appears the society met through the late 1970s.
