Scope & Content This collection contains works by and about Otto Emil Anderson, a poet, author, and contributor to the Svenska Amerikanska Posten. It includes a scrapbook of family photos and clippings of Anderson's articles and verse, an original copy of Anderson's play Smålåndingarne, a translation of Anderson's memoir Bror Linquists Aventyr, a photocopied edition of Anderson's verse book Svenska Låtar; two versions of Anderson's travelogue Den Röda Tråden, the guestbook and some speaking notes from Anderson's memorial service, family photos, postcard correspondence, and a short memoir by Anderson's daughter Hulda Marsh.

Biographical Information Otto Emil Anderson was born in Nörrkoping, Ostergotland, Sweden, and emigrated to Minneapolis at the age of 16. He worked for many years as a traveling salesman and correspondent for Swedish American newspapers. He was later employed at the Minnesota state capitol as postmaster, a position he worked at until his retirement in the early 1930s. He frequently contributed verse to Swedish-American newspapers, and his published works include Den Röda Tråden (The Red Thread, an account of a trip to Sweden), Bror Linquists Aventyr (Brother Linquist's Adventures, a memoir of his early years), Smålåndingarne (a play), and several volumes of poetry. Anderson passed away in 1939.
