|Collection||Charles E. Stongberg Religious Commentary Volumes|
|Title||Charles E. Stongberg Religious Commentary Volumes|
|Year Range from||1898|
|Year Range to||1925|
|Scope & Content||This collection is comprised of 3 volumes that are primarily concerned with religious criticism. Two of the volumes were altered by hand, presumably by Stongberg himself, and are housed in the outer folio of a Christian bible, but contain other texts; one contains The Gospel of Buddha, while the other contains multiple works and clippings of religious criticism, religion in various parts of the world, works on scientific research, and other topics. All three volumes are heavily annotated in Stongberg's own hand and contain various notes and ephemera tucked into the pages.|
|Biographical Information||Charles E. Stongberg was a Swedish immigrant to the United States and settled in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was acquainted in some way with Walfrid Engdahl (M-0078), who kept and donated these several volumes. Little else is known about Stongberg, however, it is possible he may have been a farmer or farm worker, as one of his books contains a blue ribbon from the Wausau Annual Grain Show in 1925.|
