|Scope & Content||This collection is comprised of a diary kept by Swedish immigrant Olof Nilsson from 1884 until his death in 1904. Collection also contains some general biographical information about Olof Nilsson and his family, which was created at the time of the collection's donation.|
|Biographical Information||Olof Nilsson was born on July 23, 1824, in Glassetter, Frösö parish, Jämtland, Sweden, son of Nils Olafson and Marta Lansdotter. Olof married Christina Olson in 1853 and thereafter they lived in Ostersund, Follinge and Laxsjö. They moved to Kragerø, Norway in 1868 and had 8 children, most of whom emigrated to Minnesota. Christina died in 1887, and Olof emigrated to the United States on his own to join his children in Milaca, Minnesota in 1889. After emigrating to the United States the family used the surname Nelson. Olof died on November 4, 1904.|
