Scope & Content This collection is comprised primarily of the records of Holmgren Organ Co., including extensive records of work with individual churches and organizations. Collection also contains records of the Holmgren Motion Picture Service as well as personal materials such as correspondence, official/legal documents, and photographs from Harold Holmgren's life. Wherever possible, original folder headings and organization have been preserved within series.
Biographical Information Harold Holmgren (1894-1984) emigrated to the United States with his parents and they moved to Minneapolis in 1902. Harold trained himself in the trade of pipe organ tuning and repair and established his own organ installation and repair company called Holmgren Organ Company, which allowed him to travel throughout the Upper Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Illinois, and Iowa) working with churches and other organizations. He continued this line of work until 1975. His parents were co-founders of a Swedish newspaper -Baneret.
