Scope & Content This collection is comprised primarily of clippings that document Fritz Carlson's running fame between 1912 and 1914. Other materials include photographs of him running and a few pieces of correspondence.
Biographical Information Fritz Carlson was a Swedish born immigrant to the United States, settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had a somewhat successful career as a marathon runner, winning the Boston marathon in 1913. He made a bid for he Olympics but was unable to compete. His wife was Abba E. Carlson. Fritz Carlson worked for a time for the Metropolitan National Bank and died in 1927.
