This collection is comprised of meeting minutes, financial ledgers, book loan registers, and an academic article on the Vega Literary Society.
The Vega Literary Society was a Swedish-American lending library in St. Paul founded in 1881 and which was active through the 1960s. The society was organized to promote public gatherings of Swedish men and women and to offer good reading to Swedish-speaking immigrants. In addition to organizational documents such as those in the collection, the lending library contained nearly 500 titles that circulated among members during the organizations history.
