Title European Travel Album, 1939

Scope & Content Photo album prepared by one of two women from Wisconsin who traveled to Europe on the eve of World War II. "Emma" and "Vivian" are named in the captions and in the written tour notes that are interspersed in the album. They took the SS Bremen to France and proceded to tour Paris, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and London. The images are original snapshots and purchased postcards, mainly of tourist sites, but one of the women visited relatives in Sweden. There are also views on board the ship.
Biographical Information Vivian Benson received a postcard from Emma that is mounted in the album, so we know Vivian's surname. She also writes about being from Wisconsin and visiting her mother's relatives in Sweden.
