Scope & Content This collection is comprised of The Benson family members lived in locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin throughout the 20th century. Henry Benson married Anna Mathilda Anderson (Benson) and they lived for several years in Superior, Wisconsin. Anna wrote poetry in English and Swedish, and her poetry and writings are included in the collection.

Henry and Anna's daughter Vivian Benson is well documented in the collection with correspondence, materials related to her education as a teacher, official state documents, and various keepsakes and ephemera from her teaching and travels. Vivian also created a handwritten translation of her mother's diary, which is part of her materials.

There are various religious ephemera related to Pearl Benson and poetry belonging to Herman Benson, though it is unclear what relation these two were to the other three members documented in the collection. In addition to individual family materials there are clippings, ephemera and photographs related to the Benson family in general, which cannot be attributed to any one family member.
